Registration Open for 5th Annual Juvenile Sex Offender Management Conference

Registration for the 5th Annual Juvenile Sex Offender Management Conference is now open! The Conference will be held at the new Omni Hotel in Fort Worth from June 21 - 24, 2009. This year's program is sure to be the best yet, with topics such as Promising Practices in Responding to Juvenile Victims, Living with the Memories, Cyber Safety for Parents, Detecting Deception, Providing Supervision to New Juvenile Sex Offender Therapists, and Self Regulation Skills for Young People Who Sexually Abuse.

Leadership for Support Staff Conference Brochure & Agenda posted

I would like to announce the Leadership for Support Staff Conference brochure and Agenda is now posted on our website: http://www.cmitonline.org/calendar/view.php?item=251. As many of you have heard, the conference has been moved to beautiful Corpus Christi, Texas due to the growth in the conference. The dates are June 15-18, 2009, with early registration and sign-in on June 15, and the conference actually begins at 8:00 am on June 16. We are honored to bring back such speakers as Nancy Baird and Charlotte Stallings, and adding Marla Durden, Greg Moore, and Monty Hudspeth.

Topics for the conference include: Taking the Lead in Supporting Your Organization, I Love My Job…It’s the People I have a Problem With, Harness the Wind: Breakthrough to Success, Improving Your Personal Financial Management, and Character Counts. The speakers have a diverse background to provide different points of view for each of you.

As always, the registration fee is $265 per participant and you can receive up to 20 hours of CJAD, TJPC, or TCLEOSE credit. As with all Special Programs Division conferences, for every three participants from the same Agency, a fourth can attend for free. Also, payment can be made via cash, check, or credit card (visa and mastercard) before, during, or after the conference.

The Correctional Management Institute of Texas/Texas Probation Training Academy will be hosting "Hurricane Preparedness Training" for Adult and Juvenile Community Corrections Agencies. This training is free and will be conducted on May 21-22, 2009 at the George J. Beto Criminal Justice Center in Huntsville, Texas. This training is by invitation only to agency administrators in hurricane prone areas along the Gulf Coast who are responsible for developing and or implementing Hurricane Readiness Protocols.
