CMIT welcomes new Project Coordinator, Fred Rangel


The Correctional Management Institute of Texas is excited to announce that Fred Rangel has recently joined our team as project coordinator. Fred brings with him over 26 years of experience in the criminal justice field. His broad experience includes serving Angelina County as Director of the Community Supervision and Corrections Department (CSCD). Fred was also a probation officer and supervisor within the Montgomery County Juvenile Probation Department, and Director of Adult Residential Services within the Montgomery County CSCD.

Fred has served on the Board of Directors for the Texas Probation Association (TPA) and was also elected to a two-year term as President for TPA. Additionally, has served on the Probation Advisory Committee (PAC), including a two-year term as Chairman.


Fred earned his Bachelor of Science in Criminology and Corrections as well as his Master of Science in Criminal Justice Management from Sam Houston State University.

Fred’s responsibilities will include program oversight of CMIT’s Texas Probation Training Academy for adult probation training. Fred brings incredible experience and insight to the Institute, and as a well respected corrections professional he will serve as a valuable resource within the George J. Beto Criminal Justice Center and the corrections community throughout Texas.
